Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Technical Trades, Placement Program – 3 team member will perform multiple duties geared towards building knowledge and skills needed to become successful in a Pella Technical Trades role.  The Technical Trades, Placement Program - 3 team member may be assigned to a variety of tasks based on the training schedule and business need.  He/she must have technical aptitude, good judgment, and mental alertness towards the given tasks. 

 

The program is six weeks in duration.  Placement will occur as technical positions open within the site and is dependent upon business need and skill set match.

 

PELLA CORPORATION REQUIREMENTS:

·         Pass drug screen

·         High school diploma or equivalency

·         Pass pre-employment tests

·         Work in a team environment with the ability to communicate in a concise, polite and respectful manner

·         Pass pre-work ability screen

 

ENVIRONMENT:

·         Noise level requires hearing protection in designated areas

·         Season high temperatures and humidity

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Comply with safety, quality, and production requirements and procedures

·         Regular/dependable attendance required

·         Flexibility of work hours including overtime

·         Able to work with and around moving equipment

·         Operate computer run equipment/machines

·         Read instructions and gauges, and measure accurately

·         Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair equipment

·         Schedule work run through areas of responsibility

·         Program, set-up, and run the machines of responsibility

·         Rotate to various functionals areas for training/skill building

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Ability to rotate to other positions as needed

·         Other duties may be assigned

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

·         Manufacturing related experience is preferred

·         Technical trades experience is preferred

 

FACTORY SKILLS:

·         Blueprint Reading

·         Industrial Math

·         Measurement Technology

·         Quality Technology

·         Wood Technology

·         Paint Technology

·         Effective Mentoring Techniques

 

SKILLS:

·         Able to work with minimal supervision

·         Proficient computer knowledge

·         Read and interpret blueprints

·         Accuracy and attention to detail

·         Proficient mechanical and math aptitude

·         Decision making/problem solving skills

·         Time management

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Lift up to 100 lbs. at waist level and up to 70 lbs. at shoulder level up to an occasional basis when moving products

·         Push or pull with up to 100 lbs. of force up to an occasional basis when moving products

·         Generate up to 90 lbs. of grip strength up to an occasional basis with each hand while handling products

·         Generate up to 15 lbs. of pinch strength up to an occasional basis with each hand while handling products

·         Display average coordination with both hands up to a continuous basis while performing job tasks

·         Perform elevated work up to an occasional basis when handling products

·         Stoop, kneel or squat up to an occasional basis when handling products

·         Reach forward and to the side up to a frequent basis when handling products

·         Stand up to a continuous basis and walk up to a frequent basis during the course of each shift

·         Able to perform repetitive tasks up to 12 hours per day
